The Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) has begun the gradual circulation of Series "B" of the First Family of Banknotes (PFB), a new issue that incorporates modern security measures and technological advances to strengthen confidence in the monetary system and facilitate transactions throughout the country.
The banknotes in this new series have been designed to improve authenticity and durability, responding to the need to replace banknotes that have reached the end of their useful life and ensuring the availability of cash in optimal condition.
Among the most notable features of the “B” Series are:
- Thread security, cutting-edge technology with a multi-color motion effect, integrated into the banknote for easy verification at a glance.
- High relief printing elements on both sides of the note, allowing for tactile recognition.
- Fibrils with tricolor fluorescence and graphical improvements visible under ultraviolet light.
- 100% cotton paper with anti-fouling treatment, which prolongs the life of the banknote.
- Inclusion of microtexts on the front and back.
- Magnetic and infrared ink which facilitates processing.

The production of this series was carried out through an International Public Tender framed within the transparency policies of the BCB, under the CUCE process: N° 24-0951-00-1474220-2-1.
In addition, the Central Bank of Chile has organized training sessions for financial institutions, productive sectors, merchants, and the general public, along with information campaigns in various media outlets, to ensure proper recognition of the new banknotes.
It is important to note that PFB Series "A" banknotes and those from the Old Banknote Family that are still in good condition will continue to circulate and maintain their legal tender.
With this initiative, the Central Bank of Bolivia reaffirms its commitment to offering a more secure, modern, and reliable Bolivian currency for everyone.
