The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) has announced the release of the RD$2,000.00 banknote for the year 2024, beginning Monday, May 12, 2025. These banknotes were ordered through an international public tender in April 2024 and maintain the same security features as previous versions, ensuring their validity for all public and private obligations.
Security features of the banknote
The RD$2,000.00 bill includes multiple security features that guarantee its authenticity and make it difficult to counterfeit. These features are:
- Year: Printed at the bottom of the front, indicates the year of manufacture.
- Watermark: Shows the image of Juan Pablo Duarte and the vertical name “2000”, visible against the light.
- Brand for the blind: Geometric figure in high relief located on the upper left edge.
- Latent image: : Engraved with the initials “BCRD” visible when changing the viewing angle.
- security thread: Vertical strip that changes color from green to blue with the effect of drops and rippling sand, aligned with the institutional visual identity.
- Horizontal numbering: Serial number at the top left.
- Vertical numbering: Same as the horizontal, located on the right side.
- Microprints: Texts in very small print visible only with a magnifying glass.
- Isotype with visual identity of the BCRD: Accompanied by the numerical value and with optical effects of drops and color change from green to blue.

The issuance of this banknote is protected by Articles 228, 229, and 230 of the Constitution of the Dominican Republic, as well as Article 25 of Monetary and Financial Law No. 183-02.
